We are excited to announce multiple fully funded PhD positions starting in Spring 2026 in the Agrimechatronics Research Lab at North Dakota State University (NDSU). These positions are supported by federal research funding from the NSF and USDA and offer exceptional opportunities for highly motivated students to contribute to cutting-edge research in intelligent sensing, AI-enabled agricultural systems, robotics, clean energy tractor powertrains, and environmental monitoring.

• Develop smart sensor networks and edge AI systems to measure honey bee stress and health.
• Work with live beehives to collect real-world data.
• Contribute to environmental sustainability through pollinator health research.
Model and test electric, hybrid, and fuel-cell tractor systems.
Unmanned ground vehicle (robot) navigation.
Build simulation platforms (MATLAB/Simulink or Python) for evaluating energy efficiency.
Study agricultural machine performance under various farming scenarios.
Design and deploy wireless sensor networks for sugar beet storage monitoring.
Measure CO₂, VOCs, and temperature dynamics during post-harvest decomposition.
Develop robust, field-ready IoT platforms for large-scale storage applications.
